Situated in the heart of Bendigo, the Golden Dragon Museum provides a living history of the Chinese people of Bendigo from the gold rush of the 1850s to the present day.
The rich collection of Chinese processional regalia and accessories is one of the finest collections in the world. You will also find hundreds of other artefacts, some which date back as far as the Shang Dynasty 1500BC, including carved imperial furniture, delicate embroidery from renowned artisans and craftsmen, and historical photographs.
Central to the permanent display are eight Chinese dragons including the world’s oldest and longest Chinese Imperial Dragons. At the entrance to the museum are the Yi Yuan Classical Chinese Gardens and the Guan Yin Temple, both fine examples of traditional Chinese architecture.
